Brought in my grandfather's Seiko automatic that had been sitting in a drawer for maybe eight years. Krit assessed it thoroughly before quoting — there were two worn parts he pointed out that I would never have noticed. The timing record he gave me when I collected it was a nice touch. The watch runs within a few seconds a day now.

The crown on my dress watch had been getting harder to wind for months. I was in Chiang Mai for a week and found Cogtide through a recommendation. They diagnosed it same day and had it ready before I left. The winding is smooth again. Sunisa was helpful about explaining what had caused the issue in terms I could follow.

I collect watches and have used workshops in Germany and Switzerland. Cogtide is the first place in Thailand I would trust with anything important. The overhaul they did on my JLC was careful and well documented. The timing record showed genuine improvement across all positions. A professional setup in a city where that is not always easy to find.

Went in for a strap change — quick, no fuss, done while I waited. The only reason I would not give five stars is that the bracelet I wanted fitted needed a spring bar that took an extra day to source. But they called me the same afternoon to let me know rather than letting me come back for nothing. That I appreciated.

My Omega was losing several minutes a day. I had a week in Chiang Mai and decided to try the local option. They had it assessed the same afternoon and the scope was clear before any work started. Collected it two days before my flight — running well within manufacturer spec according to the timing printout. Would definitely use again.

Pushed the crown in too hard and bent the stem on my daily wearer. Found Cogtide on a forum recommendation. They sourced a compatible replacement stem within three days, fitted it, and checked the movement was still running correctly. Honest quote up front, no additions. Exactly what you want in a repair shop.

A Few Specific Stories

More detailed accounts from a few jobs that illustrate how we approach particular situations.

CASE · 01

Vintage Longines Manual-Wind, Circa 1965

SITUATION

A Chiang Mai resident brought in a Longines manual-wind from her father. The watch had not been worn in around 15 years. The movement was seized and the mainspring would not turn. She was uncertain whether restoration was practical given the age.

APPROACH

Full disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning. The mainspring required replacement — we sourced a compatible part and fitted it. The balance staff was examined and found intact. After cleaning and lubrication, regulation across six positions took two days.

OUTCOME

Movement running at +8 seconds per day in crown-up position, within reasonable range for a vintage calibre. Customer collected with timing record. Total time: three weeks. The watch is being worn daily.

"I assumed it was beyond repair. The fact that it is ticking again and keeping reasonable time is more than I expected."

CASE · 02

Chronograph Pusher Failure on a Seiko 6138

SITUATION

A collector brought in a vintage Seiko chronograph with a lower pusher that had stopped returning after activation. The pusher tube itself was distorted, a common issue on worn examples of this calibre.

APPROACH

Pusher tube carefully removed and examined. A replacement tube was sourced from a parts supplier. The pusher spring was checked and found acceptable. The chronograph function was tested through multiple start/stop/reset cycles after reassembly.

OUTCOME

Pusher returns consistently. Chronograph function confirmed across 20+ cycles. Turnaround: ten days including parts sourcing. Customer had been unable to find this repair elsewhere in the city.

"Two other shops said they couldn't source the part. Cogtide found it and had it fitted within the week."
