REF-070 · LEGAL
Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to all repair, restoration, and fitting services carried out by Cogtide at 209 Nimmanhaemin Road, Su Thep, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand. By leaving a watch in our care or requesting a service, you agree to the terms set out below. If anything here is unclear, please ask before leaving your watch with us.
CLAUSE 01
Accepting a Service Request
A service is accepted when we issue a written or verbal quotation and you confirm you wish to proceed. Dropping off a watch for assessment does not by itself constitute acceptance of any service commitment on our part. We will examine the piece and provide you with a scope and price before any work begins.
If you leave a watch for assessment and we are unable to reach you to discuss the findings within 30 days, we will store the watch at your risk and may charge a reasonable storage fee after that period.
CLAUSE 02
Quotations and Pricing
Prices are stated in Thai Baht (฿). The prices listed on our website and service materials are indicative starting prices for standard cases. The final price will be confirmed after initial assessment of the specific watch.
If additional issues are discovered during the course of a repair that would increase the agreed price, work will pause and we will contact you to discuss. No additional charges will be applied without your agreement. You may choose to proceed with the additional work, decline it, or collect the watch in its current state. A partial assessment fee may apply if significant diagnostic work has already been carried out.
Payment is due on collection of the watch. We accept cash in Thai Baht and major bank transfers. Please confirm payment arrangements at the time of drop-off if you have specific requirements.
CLAUSE 03
Turnaround Times
Estimated completion times are provided in good faith at the time of quotation. These are estimates rather than binding commitments. Complications may arise during a repair — a part may need to be sourced, or an issue may emerge that requires additional time to address correctly.
We will notify you if the expected completion date changes significantly. We do not apply rush fees to standard services; equally, we do not accept responsibility for delays caused by external factors such as international parts supply.
CLAUSE 04
Parts and Components
Where possible, we use original manufacturer parts. In some cases — particularly for vintage or discontinued movements — original parts are not available and suitable period-appropriate alternatives are used. We will inform you when this applies and discuss options before proceeding.
Parts replaced during a repair become the property of Cogtide unless you specifically request their return at the time of drop-off. Old parts that are returned will be provided in whatever condition they were removed.
CLAUSE 05
Service Warranty
Full overhaul services carry a 12-month service warranty covering the specific repair work performed. If a problem covered by this warranty recurs within 12 months of collection, bring the watch to us and we will address it at no additional charge.
The warranty applies only to the work carried out and does not cover: accidental damage after collection; damage caused by the watch being opened by a third party; issues arising from normal wear and tear of non-serviced components; or faults in parts supplied by the customer.
Crown, stem, pusher, and bracelet fitting services do not carry a formal warranty period, though we stand by the quality of what we do. If something does not seem right within a reasonable period, please contact us.
CLAUSE 06
Care and Responsibility for Your Watch
Watches left in our care are stored securely and handled with reasonable care at all times. Each piece is individually tracked from intake to collection.
Cogtide carries appropriate insurance for watches in our care. However, we ask that you declare the approximate value of any watch at the time of drop-off so that we can ensure adequate cover. We are not responsible for losses arising from undeclared values significantly exceeding our standard coverage thresholds.
We are not liable for pre-existing faults or conditions that become apparent during the course of repair work, provided we inform you of these at the earliest opportunity. We are also not liable for any cosmetic changes that are a normal consequence of the repair process (for example, light marks from tool contact on movement components that are not visible on the finished watch).
CLAUSE 07
Collection and Uncollected Watches
We will contact you when your watch is ready for collection. Payment is required before the watch is released. Please collect within 30 days of being notified that the work is complete.
After 30 days without contact from you, we may apply a storage fee. After 90 days without contact, and following reasonable attempts to reach you, we reserve the right to apply further actions in accordance with applicable Thai law regarding unclaimed property. We will always attempt to contact you through any means you have provided before taking such steps.
CLAUSE 08
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any disputes that cannot be resolved through direct discussion will be referred to the relevant Thai authorities or courts as appropriate.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have as a consumer under applicable Thai consumer protection law.
CLAUSE 09
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time you leave a watch with us is the one that applies to your service. Updated terms will be available on our website and at the workshop.
